What do i do if someone has hacked into my email address?

someone hacked into my email address, everything is being sent else where, i have already changed passwords. i do have an adress whoever sent from my address. i have spyware and virus protection. what else can i do ? everything from address's and messages are on this account.if i set upa new account,how do i get my info to my new account? all help is appreciated ...........thanks

I would alert your ISP as quickly as possible. Work with their people, and ask them if they feel you should alert the authorities.





Backing up and restoring data is usually pretty easy. Just go into your email program (Outlook, Thunderbird, etc), click on help, and look for the section on backup and restore. Usually pretty straightforward.





But I wouldn't wait to contact your ISP and possibly the authorities. This kind of cybercrime is not to be taken lightly, and you should work swiftly to avoid future problems.

Reply:Immediately drop the mail account (hopefully it is not the master account - always create sub accounts easier to delete.) Notify your ISP and any mail addresses that might have been compromised You can export your address book to your hard drive then import to new account and forward any important messages to your new account
