someone has my email address but does not NO my password can they hack into my computer and if so what can be done to secure it. Can your computer ISP address be changes
Can a computer be hacked into using an email address??
If "Someone has my email address": he can send me e-mails no more. Your provider normally changes IP whenever You dial out/in. The IP numbers are scarce ;-)
What a web page owners can find out about You. 1.) is astonishing but they cannot hack You. It is hard to hack into a secured system.
What You can do: You have a firewall (must!), an updated virus scanner (must), updates to Your OS (should have - if You have sufficient bandwidth) and updates to often used software (should have if available). At least Your browser mail, messenger, p2h sharing programs should be up to date, Your browser if IE should be updated to IE 7 that white lists activeX and brings latest Outloock Express update. Or the much use Internet programs possibly should be replcaed with not so common programs and therefore not so often hacked or attacked programs( Firefox, Opera browser, thunderbird or sylpheed mail, Miranda ... messenger... ).
You virus-check every file that is not music or picture and that You download or get by mail, messenger or file sharing. A spyware check should be done every once in a while.
You find tools and programs via search engines.
thx for reading my mail
Reply:Well, someone knows your email address and your afraid if they can hack into your computer?
Well, here's my email address, dn012@yahoo.com. How could someone crack my password for my email and then end up in my computer? Ask your self that.
It's 2 different things.
You never stated if this was web email or client based email. Either way, It isn't happening. They don't relate.
Heres a heads up for future security precaution for you..
Download Zone alarm FREE
CCleaner
AVG Anti-Spyware
Asquared Free
Spywareblaster
Seek and Destroy
And get a good virus protection application like Nod32...
good luck,
