Someonbe has hacked into my email, stolen info from my address book, deleted it, sending ltr asking for $?

they have sent letters asking for money, frauduently. where do I go to report this and get resolved?

You didn't say if the letter was sent in the US mail. If so it's a federal crime now.It seems most likely this may be someone you know.finding the IP address that stole your password is very difficult but tracing a letter through the post office would be easier.





The crime they committed using the mail would be extortion and depending on the amount of money and the threat would determine the crime [felony, misdemeanor].
Reply:Has happened to me. I sent text message to all people I E-mail, and made them aware of problem.





E-mails come in as from who you expect, and when opened, big problems.





Contact your internet provider, and explain to them. The police can be informed, and recommended, but they will have few powers to hand to solve internet fraud for individuals.





You have done well to place this question, it makes us all aware of the problem.

Reply:Notify your bank, police and try to shred all letters you've finished with before throwing them away to not give out any personal detail.
