I have just tried to log into my yahoo account which i have had for years and it keeps saying invalid password. i can't remember the personal info i gave to get a new password. I have had to create a new yahoo ID but I can't access important emails in my old account.
Any bright ideas how I could regain control of my account?
Has this happend to anyone before? Did the hacker try to gain controllo of your other accounts?ie ebay, bank, order stuff online?

Reply:For dub_station_alfa_5: Could you get your email account back? Mine was hacked yesterday. :(( Report Abuse
Reply:also i would consider why somebody would steal your accont, generally they have a reason for it, wither it be stealing CC details, or sending malicious emails.
Reply:find the "contact us" link and ask yahoo! for help
Reply:Do you use the same password on your yahoo account as you do on other sites?
If the answer is yes, you may want to change those passwords now!
Any emails that you had in the old account have been viewed by the 'hacker'.
I don't think you'd be able to regain control of the account though you may be able to speak/email yahoo mail admins %26amp; give them detailed info into the contents of the mail account. Obviously they may not give you access as in their eyes you could be a potential 'hacker'
Reply:Why do people do it, they are a pain in the ****!!!
I've had the same thing happen to me and you have done the best thing by opening a new account. As far as recovering old emails I would give up, even if you ask yahoo to do something about it they cant (or wont) either way they are a waste of time. Without sounding patronising when you pick a password make sure its obscure, so that anybody trying to guess it doesnt stand a chance, also I would suggest that you did the same thing with your security question.
Dont know if thats any help but hope all goes well anyway.
